GigaWave Technologies Announces New Cisco Aironet® Wireless Fundamentals & Site Survey Curriculum v5.0

Completely Updated Curriculum Incorporates Latest Cisco Wi-Fi Advances Including New Cisco Aironet Access Points, Radios and More…

LAS VEGAS, NV, June 21, 2005 - GigaWave Technologies today announced a newly updated instructor led training course entitled Aironet Wireless Fundamentals and Site Survey (AWFSS). The new courseware is updated with advances in Cisco Wi-Fi technology and combines content previously taught in two, separate classes. The new, four-day, AWFSS v5.0 course is recommended in order to obtain a Cisco Wireless Specialization.

The new courseware includes recent upgrades to the Cisco Aironet product line such as the new Cisco Aironet 1130AG and 1200AG Series access points, as well as the new Cisco ADU Site Survey Tool.

The Aironet Wireless Fundamentals and Site Survey Course is designed to give students a firm understanding of the Cisco wireless portfolio, radio frequency theory, 802.11 standards, WLAN topologies, basic antenna theory and an introduction to WLAN security and bridging techniques. Hands-on access points and client adaptor labs provide students with experience setting-up and securing a wireless network using the Cisco Integrated Wireless Network infrastructure which includes intrusion detection systems for rogue access points and ad-hoc networks. The course also teaches the importance of performing a WLAN site survey as well as what tools are available from both Cisco and third-party vendors. It also explores essential wireless network design concerns, infrastructure, cabling and mounting awareness.

"We've worked with the Cisco Wireless Networking Business Unit to ensure this curriculum includes the latest Cisco upgrades and products," said Chris Marco, president of GigaWave Technologies. "Our goal is to give students the skills required to stay on-top of the technology and standards needed to design, install and secure an enterprise-wide Cisco wireless network and this comprehensive class does just that."

As the first in a series of follow-on Cisco WLAN training courses, there are no recommended prerequisites for the AWFSS course.

The AWFSS class was developed jointly by Cisco Systems, Inc. and GigaWave Technologies. As a Cisco Learning Partner, GigaWave is dedicated exclusively to developing and delivering curriculum on the Cisco Integrated Wireless solution. The company will also teach the new AWFSS courseware.
